New Brunswicks provincial budget has ignored a consultants recommendation to increase the amount of time care aides can spend on patients in the provinces care.

The government paid consulting company DMR to examine and recommend changes on care levels in nursing homes. The consultants report found that nursing home residents get an average of 2 hours 30 minutes care per day, but should get 3 hours and 30 minutes care each day.

To make matters worse, New Brunswick charges a minimum of $118 per day for nursing home care one of the highest fees in the country.
