Please note that this page is from our archives. There may be more up-to-date content about this topic on our website. Use our search engine to find out.

This Saturday, June 18, get your overalls, tool belt, and hardhat out! We’re re-installing ‘asbestos’ into your local Conservative MPs office and the Prime Minister’s home. It’s part of something we’re calling National Asbestos Delivery Day. We hope to re-install ‘asbestos’ in every riding.

What you need to participate:

  • A copy of the pledge that your MP can sign
  • Cotton batting
  • Tool belt, overalls and/or hardhat
  • Camera
  • Bring a friend

If you’re planning on taking part, please send an email to action [at] canadacausescancer.ca (action[at]canadacausescancer[dot]ca) with your riding in the subject line. You can also RSVP on Facebook and share this event with friends.

Take a photo of your delivery and email us or post it on our Facebook wall.

Send signed pledges back to pledge [at] canadacausescancer.com (pledge[at]canadacausescancer[dot]com).

The UN vote is fast approaching - June 20! By sharing our petition and participating in this national day of action - this deadly policy might be reversed.

Please note: this is a non-violent direct action.

Here is an update on what you and other supporters helped to achieve so far:

✔ Thousands of you, from coast to coast, have made your voice heard…and Ottawa is listening! See the map of national support!

CUPE has endorsed this campaign.

✔ The NDP has come out in support of all our petition’s demands and even the Conservatives say that they’re reconsidering.

✔ On June 13, the CBC revealed that since 2006 the government has ignored their own scientists’ recommendations to add asbestos to the UN list of hazardous substances.

✔ It was discovered that Conservative MPs have been making misleading statements to their constituents in responses to our emails sent via CanadaCausesCancer.ca.
