Municipal workers in Malartic, a community in north-west Quebec, have been locked out since April 29 after resisting employer attempts to gut their job security.

The nine inside workers, members of CUPE Local 4224, won their job security language after a hard-fought strike that lasted four and a half months in 1999.

Members of the local have launched a community campaign to put pressure on the employer to end the dispute.
