Chartered bus Transportation from Quesnel to Prince Rupert is offered as an option. Once you have registered a member of the NADC will email you directly with the registration package that needs to be filled out and sent back to them.

NADC Fall 2023 school will be held from Nov 6 - 9, 2023 at the Crest Hotel in Prince Rupert, BC.
This school is open to both members of affiliated locals and non-affiliated locals at a cost.
Course offerings will be:
1) Advanced Bargaining
2) Advanced Grievance Handling
3) Shop Steward Learning Series
Collective Bargaining (CLC)
November 6 (9:00am) - 9, 2023 (4:30pm)
Participants will leave with a solid understanding of the bargaining process and the factors that affect collective bargaining. This course also introduces some of the laws and rules that structure the bargaining process and provides opportunities for hands-on practice and skills development in preparing for and negotiating parts of a collective agreement. This course is aimed at new bargaining committee members and local union officers.
Advanced Grievance Handling: Building the best case from Grievance to Arbitration
November 6 (9:00am) - 9, 2023 (4:30pm)
This workshop will teach participants about how to best prepare grievances to increase their local's chances of success at arbitration. This advanced workshop is geared to experienced stewards, chief shop stewards and Local Executive members.
Introduction to Stewarding

What does a CUPE steward do? If you are a new steward and want to learn how to help CUPE members solve workplace problems, this introductory workshop is for you! In this workshop, you will learn: • investigating workplace problems; • filing a grievance; • meeting with management; • dealing with workplace complaints. NOTE: Please bring a copy of your collective agreement to the workshop.

This module equips stewards to be proactive when meeting with management. Learn tips for effective meetings, and build confidence by practicing meeting situations.
SLS - Ally skills for stewards

Effective stewards are champions for human rights and equality. Explore what it means to be an ally, and ways that stewards can step up as allies in the workplace and the union.
SLS - HS - Preventing Mental Injuries at Work

New forms of work, job insecurity, work intensification, high demands, violence and a resulting poor work-life balance are resulting in psychosocial and mental health problems in CUPE workplaces. This module focuses on the workplace as the cause or a contributor to mental health issues, and not the individual. Discuss strategies and actions that actually help make workplaces psychologically healthier and safer.
SLS - Conflict skills for stewards

Unresolved workplace conflict is stressful and weakens the union. Learn about the sources of workplace conflict and how to choose a response that fits the situation. Practice conflict communication skills that will help you resolve conflict at work and in the union.
SLS - Mediating member-to-member conflict

Practice coaching members who are in conflict with other members, and work with a four-step approach to basic mediation.
