CUPE 608 member Marlene Kantz had her daughter Nicki with her on many picket lines while she was growing up. Now Nicki’s a BCTF member taking part in the protest against Bill 12, out in front of Trout Creek Elementary School where she went from grade one to seven.

So Marlene was glad to be able to pay back her daughter for the many times that Nicki walked (or was wheeled along) picket lines while growing up.

“An activist was born,” Kantz the elder says.
