CUPE National President Paul Moist and National Secretary Treasurer Claude Généreux sent BC teachers union president Jinny Sims a letter congratulating BC teachers on their continued resistance to Bill 12, and promising more support from CUPE. Our 25,000 CUPE BC school board sector members are already on the streets with you, and our entire union can be counted on to stand shoulder to shoulder with you, the letter reads.

Dear Sister Jinny:

On behalf of the 540,000 CUPE members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, we want to take this opportunity to extend our solidarity in your struggle for free collective bargaining.

We salute the courage shown by teachers in British Columbia to take a stand in defiance of an unjust law. The audacity of the Liberal Government is appalling and we are very proud to be part of the solidarity that will bring them to account.

As you know, our 25,000 CUPE BC school board sector members are already on the streets with you, and our entire union can be counted on to stand shoulder to shoulder with you.

Please extend our very best wishes to your membership. We know that victory is in our collective hands.

In solidarity

Paul Moist, National President
Claude Généreux, National Secretary Treasurer
