Sisters and brothers,

We cannot begin to understand what has happened in the United States. But we do know that it is a human tragedy of horrendous proportions.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have lost their lives and their loved ones. To those who continue to work to protect public safety and to help those in distress, we offer our thanks, our strength and our deepest solidarity.

Among those who have died are flight attendants, fire fighters, paramedics and other public service workers who dedicate themselves daily to assuring public safety. We feel their loss deeply.

In the face of this tragedy, I would encourage you to consider the request from the Canadian Blood Service to donate blood. This small gesture can serve to demonstrate our personal commitment to life and to strengthening the community bonds that draw us together. To learn more about how you can donate, please call 1-877-236-6283 (1-877-2-DONATE).

Please take a moment to reach out to friends, to family and to co-workers to support them. It is at times like this when we need each other most of all.

In solidarity,

Judy Darcy

National President
