Manitoba business groups are pushing their government, a strong defender of public health care, to privatize. Two-thirds of business leaders responding to a November poll believe that more private sector involvement will make health care more efficient, and will open up new streams of investment. The respondents called for more P3s in health care. The Manitoba health minister was quick to defend the public system, pointing to the gross inefficiencies in the U.S. system and the Romanow commissions findings that the majority of Canadians oppose any privatization.
