REGINA: Keep it in Regina will be the theme on the picket line tomorrow for striking Regina Public Library workers. Picketers will be carrying flying dollars and Saskatchewan flags to highlight concerns about tax dollars and Regina jobs being sent to Ontario.

Many materials that the Regina Public Library would have normally purchased locally, such as books, videos and CDs, are now being purchased from Ontario companies at a higher cost. In addition, the library began contracting out cataloguing and processing services to Ontario companies last year.

The library workers, members of CUPE Local 1594, want full disclosure on contracting out details, including projected savings, before more work is sent out of the province.

Tomorrows picket lines will be up at the Central Library, Connaught and Glen Elm branches from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. and at the Central Library and Sherwood branch from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.

The library workers have been on a full-scale strike since April 16. Their last contract expired on December 31, 2000.
