Leonard Peltier has spent the last 24 years in jail for a crime he did not commit. The American Indian Movement (AIM) activist was jailed after a 1975 shootout in which two FBI agents and one AIM activist were killed.

Despite a flimsy case and evidence that pointed to Peltiers innocence, Peltier was convicted.

Over the years, Peltier has continued his work on aboriginal rights issues and his case has become increasingly famous.
