As the year draws to a close, 54 Royale Retirement Residence workers in Kanata, Ontario, will have CUPE on their side to kick off 2012. The retirement home workers voted overwhelmingly to join Canada’s largest union to improve their working and earning conditions.

Our new members will enjoy the holiday season with their families, knowing full well they will now have the backing and support of Canada’s largest union,” said Colette Proctor, CUPE organizing representative.

CUPE’s latest members wanted to be treated fairly and with respect by management. “CUPE is committed to addressing these issues and ensure their rights are protected and advanced,” said Proctor.

CUPE will work closely with the retirement home workers to achieve their first new collective agreement in the New Year.
