In Victoria, members of Local 1978 have stepped up their pressure on the management of the Capital Region Housing Corporation. On strike since April 28, the sixteen caretakers moved their picket lines last week to the offices of the corporation.

As a result, the Corporation’s eleven clerical staff, also members of Local 1978, have been off the job, respecting the picket lines.

The striking caretakers are fighting the fact that they are expected to be on call 24 hours a day seven days a week for a meagre wage.
