NORTH BAY, ON – The McGuinty Liberals propose massive changes to health service delivery that will open the door to more private health care, while compromising local access to services and diminishing patient care, say North Bay area health and community-based social service workers.

The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the Service Employees International Union Local1.on (SEIULocal1.on), the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) are holding a media conference on Monday, January 16, to alert the North Bay community to how the proposed Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) plan will impact access to health care locally.

The four health care unions, which collectively represent nearly 200,000 health service workers, have launched a joint province-wide campaign to stop the most destructive elements of the McGuinty Liberal’s LHINs scheme. A landmark meeting of North Bay area ONA, OPSEU, CUPE and SEIU health care sector members is also scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on January 16 at the Best Western Hotel, 700 Lakeshore Drive, North Bay.*
