Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board early learning professionals vote to join CUPE 3615

DUBLIN, ON – Early Learning Professionals at the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (HPCDSB) have voted to join Local 3615 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). This week’s representation vote will help ensure a successful roll-out of the province’s new Early Learning Program (ELP).

We are very excited to have concluded this important step to making early learning a reality throughout the region” said Kate Dobson, president of CUPE 3615.

To date, CUPE locals across Ontario have concluded more than two dozen successful rounds of negotiations with school boards. These agreements incorporate the terms of the recently negotiated Provincial Discussion Table (PDT) agreement between the province, school boards and the unions that represent the bulk of Ontario’s school board staff.

Local 3615 will now enter into negotiations with HPCDSB to ensure
early childhood educators have the same protections and coverage as early learning professionals in other jurisdictions.

With school now underway, parents can know that the early learning professionals we now represent will be able to remain focused on making early learning a success at HPDCSB by providing their children with the best possible education,” said Dobson.
