(Halifax) CUPE spokesperson, Wayne Thomas is calling on the Minister of Health to replace the hospital lead negotiator. Phil Veinotte isnt taking this seriously. He is wasting our time and the governments scarce healthcare dollars. CUPE hospital workers deserve to be treated with respect.

At a key point in the final two days of conciliation, Veinotte tabled a new proposal that further eroded our job security protection. We have been at the bargaining table for eleven months. Introducing a new proposal at this stage is bargaining in bad faith. The Employer is hiding behind FOS. If CUPE still had the right to strike, this action by the lead negotiator would have put us on the street, said Thomas.

The outstanding issues will now proceed to Final Offer Selection (FOS) on

April 27th.
