Come one, come all to the August 3 North Shore People’s Picnic

Mark your calendar for fun, food and food for thought on August 3 because that Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be a North Shore People’s Picnic at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver.

HEU health care workers from Lions Gate Hospital are front and centre in a citizens’ movement where the North Shore Action Coalition, Seniors’ Network BC, North Shore Women’s Centre, Council of Canadians, B.C. Nurses’ Union and others have come together to co-sponsor the family-oriented picnic.

Picnic activities including a dunk tank, sumo wrestling, comedy improv, children’s crafts and face painting will backdrop the distribution and discussion of information about health care and other public services cuts.

Event posters can be downloaded from HEU’s web site, heu.org, or by contacting Chris Dorais, who also knows more about the picnic, in the Provincial Office at 604-456-7042. Come on out. Enjoy the activities, chow down on hot dogs and feed your information appetite. Find out what the Liberal government’s cuts really mean for British Columbians.
