BURNABY—Three large CUPE locals have stepped forward this year to sponsor smaller locals to send members to Naramata and Parksville week-long schools.

CUPE 403 (Township of Langley), CUPE 387 (City of New Westminster/Fraser Health Authority) and CUPE 389 (North Vancouver, multi-cert local) have all kicked in funds to help make union education affordable for every local.

“Small and distant locals often have a real struggle to send delegates to week-long schools, and this sponsorship can really make the difference,” says CUPE Education Rep Judi Armstrong.

To find out more about these sponsorships, locals can contact CUPE 387 president Faith Matchette, CUPE 403 president Paul Albrecht or CUPE 389 president Cindy McQueen at their respective Local offices.

The Parksville school runs from October 22-27. The registration deadline is October 10.
