CUPE 3906 represents 130 post-doctoral fellows (PDFs) who work hard to enhance the reputation of McMaster University. Mac’s PDFs have been trying to secure a fair contract with management since their last contract expired in August of last year.

They return to the bargaining table later this month to secure a deal for members so they can all continue to provide the important academic services that make the university work.

A fair deal that includes a fair and competitive compensation package can be reached with McMaster if the administration moves away from their current inflexible position of no increases in the final years of their proposed contract terms.

The monetary difference between the administration’s position and what the union has offered, to reach a deal, is minimal compared to the potential operations disruption at the university in the event of a management/labour dispute.
