STURGEON FALLS Workers at the West Nipissing Retirement Home, Au Cht0065au, will hold a ’Have a Heart’ information picket on Valentine’s Day, to protest slow negotiations and concession demands from their employer. The info picket will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. outside the home at 106 Michaud Street, in Sturgeon Falls.

“Our wages have not kept pace with inflation, and now our employer wants to force us to pay for our own benefits”, says Christine Maurice, President of Local 896 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). “We’re asking the people of Sturgeon Falls to help us tell our employer to have a heart and give us a fair contract.”
