HAMILTON Security and custodial staff at Hamilton Airport have voted to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees.

The vote was conducted on Friday, June 13 by the Canada Industrial Relations Board. The workers previously belonged to LIUNA.

We voted to go with CUPE because we have seen their track record of excellence in servicing and responding to the needs of their membership, said Patricia Hennessey, a member of the group. In CUPE well have the autonomy to decide our own affairs while having access to the resources of Canadas largest union.

They join the airport firefighters and maintenance group at the airport as a unit of CUPE Local 5167.
