HALDIMAND – The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 4700 and the County of Haldimand have negotiated a tentative agreement, which may bring an end to the municipal workers strike.

County employees will vote on whether or not to accept the tentative agreement on Monday morning (April 22). Details of the offer will be released following the meeting.

The 160 county workers have been on strike since March 8. They work for community services, roads, by-law enforcement, the building department, social services, and the finance department.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees represents 180,000 workers across Ontario, most of whom work for municipalities, hospitals, social service agencies, school boards, and universities.
