(Sydney) – 35 group home workers, members of CUPE Local 4896, have moved one step closer to job action.

Last night, members voted 98% in favour of strike action against the Cheticamp Association for Community Living.

CUPE National Representative John Evans says, “These workers have sent a clear message to their employer. They are seeking a fair, first collective agreement”.

Says Evans, “The local and the employer are scheduled to meet with a Concilliation Officer from the Department of Labour on September 4, 2009”.
