Things can change a lot in twenty-four hours - that’s certainly been Johanne Gauthier’s experience.

Yesterday, we reported on her suspension from her work with the City of Beloeil, for speaking out against a proposed P3 recreation centre. Under pressure from citizens, CUPE members, and with widespread media coverage, they seem to have backed down.

Late Tuesday, she received a call, telling her to return to work Wednesday morning. For now, at least, it seems that the one-month suspension she had been slapped with has been suspended itself. However, the details are still not clear - and the fight against the recreation centre continues. Expect to hear more about this story.

CUPE would like to thank everyone who called, wrote, or demonstrated to support Johanne Gauthier and Beloeil civic employees.
