The PEI Global Justice Committee formed this Fall and held their first event on December 1, 2008. The committee hosted filmmaker, Quinn for a screening of her new documentary, The U.S. and US. The event was co-sponsored with CUSO-VSO, Council of Canadians, UPEI, WUSC and CUPE 1870.

Over 50 people attended the event from a variety of sectors – labour, academics, students and peace activists. Quinn was interviewed by local media and the Global Justice Committee was pleased with their first effort to bring a labour focused global justice message to the Island community.

Quinn is an award-winning filmmaker best known for her documentary, ‘Standing Still’, a touching piece about her relationship with four elderly women from Vancouver Island.
