CUPE members in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario have won an important victory, preventing the contracting out of their work at Franco-Nord School Board.

Our members work hard to keep schools clean and safe, says Monique Drapeau, CUPE Representative. We thank the community for recognizing our work and responding to our campaign.

The Board was set to allow Collg0065 Bora006c to contract out the cleaning of a 16,834 square foot area at cole Franco-Cit,0020space rented to the Collg0065.

We warned the public this move would poison labour relations for years to come, says Drapeau. Thanks to community support and calls to trustees, the Board has agreed to keep the work in-house, making sure CUPE members will continue to do the job.
