The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in northern Alberta (which includes the city of Fort McMurray) will be using a local contracting firm to build a new waste water plant.

Although EPCOR, a company that runs P3s in Edmonton and elsewhere, presented a submission to the RMWB, ,city councillors voted to keep the construction and operation of the plant in public hands.

In a resolution passed Feb. 14, council voted 8-1 to hire a local company, Bird Construction, to work with the municipality’s project manager to build the new plant.
