(Toronto) Professors and students, together with several respected authors, will join striking University of Toronto Bookstore workers for a solidarity rally tomorrow, Wednesday, June 21st, at 12:00 noon, outside the Koffler Center, 214 College (College and St. George).

Eighty workers at the University of Toronto Press have been on strike since June 7th. Negotiations for a first collective agreement failed to reach a settlement after several months of talks.

The strikers, members of Local 3261 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) were buoyed last week by a rally attended by such well-known union activists as Sid Ryan, President of CUPE Ontario, and Bob White, former President of the CAW and CLC.

The support from members of the community, the student body and the labor movement has been tremendous, says Mehdi Kouhestaninejad, President of Local 3261. Our members are more determined than ever to stand their ground and force the University Press to offer them a fair deal so far they havent come close.

Note to Editors:
