The theme of CUPE’s second National Sector Council Conference is “Organizing for success.” We’ll explore this theme across regions and sectors in plenary. Speakers will highlight the central role of organizing in building stronger communities and stronger CUPE locals. We’ll also explore the impact of an expanded CPP on our pension bargaining, as well as how we can use our collective agreements to end workplace violence and harassment. Expect these sessions to spark many ideas and conversations!
There will also be lots of time for sector-specific work. Over the course of the conference, energy workers will meet to discuss:
-
Current threats to Canada’s energy sector: Breakup/marketization, consolidation and privatization
-
Impact of international trade agreements on just transition
-
Renewable energy, green energy policy, investment and public options
-
Contracting out
-
Health and safety for outside and inside workers
-
Organizing in our sector
