April 22 is Earth Day. CUPE members are encouraged to take part in community and workplace environmental actions for this important day.

This year, CUPE members and locals are invited to take pictures of their participation in Earth Day events (or other events or actions) and submit their digital photographs to CUPE’s new green photography contest. The best photos will win prizes and will be published and shared to highlight environmental actions.

Here are some possible themes:

  • Actions to green your workplace (e.g., recycling, carpooling, public transit use, etc.)
  • CUPE participation in Earth Day events
  • Green community initiatives

All CUPE members and locals are eligible to enter the contest. Please provide a brief description of each photograph you submit.

CUPE’s annual Earth Day colouring contest is also running again this year. Young students are encouraged to colour their posters to show steps we can take on climate change, air quality, water and other environmental issues.

Earth Day is a time for all CUPE members to act as stewards of the planet by applying an environmental lens to all that we do at work and in our communities.
