After a series of rotating strikes the 700 members of CUPE Local 454 in Delta B.C. have reached a tentative agreement.

No details of the of the agreement are being released until the workers have a chance to vote on proposed contract. The most contentious issues were managements insistence on reorganizing work schedules and modifying the nine-day fortnight by which staff receive a three-day weekend every other week.

The union began a series of rotating strikes earlier this year. At first, the strikes were aimed at single facilities, but more recently a number of mass strikes were called which affected all municipal operations.

The president of Local 454 is Joe Badali. The National Representatives working with the local are Anne Coupland and Connie Credico.
