A Quebec local gained more than 2,000 new members this week as workers at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Qub0065c (CHUQ) voted to join CUPE 1108.
The government-ordered representation vote pitted Quebec Federation of Labour-affiliated CUPE against the Confdration des syndicats nationaux to represent workers at the new institution. The CHUQ was created by the merger of three Quebec City hospitals: the Centre hospitalier de lUniversit 004caval, the Ht0065006c-Dieu de Qub0065c and Saint-Frano0069s dAssise.
The local now represents about 3,000 hospital workers at CHUQ.
