NORTH VANCOUVER— Workers at North Vancouver District Library voted yesterday to join CUPE. This vote brings 112 District of North Vancouver public library workers into CUPE 389. They include librarians, library assistants, circulation workers, technical support workers, clerks, and pages who provide library service at the Park Gate, Capilano, and Lynn Valley branches.

Cindy McQueen, president of Local 389, says, “This is an historic day for CUPE 389. These workers join with 2,500 library workers in B.C. and 10,000 across Canada who are a part of CUPE. Workers at the North Van District Library will now have a voice in their workplace. We’re thrilled!”

Local 389 also represents workers at North Vancouver City Libraries, North Vancouver City, School District 44, North Vancouver Recreation Commission, North Shore Neighbourhood House, North Shore Winter Club, and Northland Golf Course.
