Employees at Magnolia Continuing Care in Enfield have voted overwhelmingly to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents staff at 47 long term care facilities in Nova Scotia.

We are extremely pleased that employees at Magnolia have chosen to join Canada’s largest union,” says CUPE Atlantic Regional Director Jacquie Bramwell. “We are looking forward to working with the employer to ensure its employees enjoy the many benefits that come from being in a unionized workplace.”

The union will be in contact with the employer, Scotia Nursing Homes, to negotiate a first collective agreement as soon as possible.

CUPE represents approximately 3,300 nursing home workers in Nova Scotia, and has more than 620,000 members across Canada.
