cupe.ca and scfp.ca will be down for a major overhaul Saturday September 7th from 7am to 12pm (noon) because were upgrading our search engine.
The search engine has been a disappointment since we changed the site’s database back end to Oracle from Microsoft Access a year or so ago. A cautionary tale: bigger is not better.
The new search engine will retrieve more useful results, ordered by relevance.
Eventually it will be able to index external documents (like word documents and PDFs as well as external URLs. This will eliminate the need for three different search engines on cupe.ca
