OTTAWA — CUPE Ontario President Sid Ryan will join activists and researchers at a town hall forum tonight focusing on ways to push back against creeping privatization and corporate influence in Ontario universities.

The forum opens a conference of about 100 union activists representing both academic and support workers at most of the province’s universities. They meet from 7:00 p.m. tonight (Thursday) until Sunday at the Crowne Plaza, 101 Lyon Street, Ottawa.

Erika Shaker, Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives; Jesse Greener, Canadian Federation of Students; Janice Folk-Dawson, Ontario University Workers Coordinating Committee; and Ryan, will get debate going on issues such as the recent tuition fee increases announced by the McGuinty government.
