CUPE is sending a delegation of leaders, members and staff to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ annual conference, being held May 31 to June 3 in Vancouver.

The FCM annual conference is excellent opportunity for CUPE to reconnect with municipal leaders and staff, and to find new ways to work together on strengthening our communities. CUPE’s active participation at the conferences many panels and workshops ensures the perspectives of workers on infrastructure, trade, and protecting public services are part of the discussions at this important event.

This year, CUPE will present a panel discussion on strengthening local partnerships. Panelists will discuss how infrastructure funding can best support local economies, and how municipalities can avoid the pitfalls of risky public-private partnerships (P3s).

CUPE will also be hosting a booth at the conferences trade show, where we will be sharing information on a wide range of key issues facing Canadian communities, and our publication Asking the right questions: a guide for municipalities considering P3s with mayors, councillors and municipal staff from across the country.

CUPE participation at the FCM annual conference is part of our commitment to working with municipal leaders to find public solutions that build strong communities.
