On behalf of the 627,000 members of CUPE, Canada’s largest union, I am writing to express our solidarity with PEI Fishermen and your battle to attain a fair and decent price for lobster this season.

All over the world workers and their jobs are being devalued. In Canada, for the average worker, wages have been flat for some 30 years.  And now we witness you being asked to work for compensation that will not cover your expenses.

CUPE stands with PEI Fishermen and we support your work stoppage. And we call on all workers and citizens to support you.

Your cause is just and we are urging our CUPE PEI members to refrain from buying lobster unless it is caught by PEI fishermen earning a living wage.

Stay United!  Remember we are stronger together!
