HALIFAX The Canadian Union of Public Employees has reached a tentative agreement with more than 30 hospital employers across Nova Scotia, on behalf of its 3,300 workers in the acute care sector.

CUPE Hospital Co-ordinator Wayne Thomas says, This deal provides CUPE with an opportunity to set the trend in the sector, and our provincial Bargaining Committee will be recommending it to our members.

The new contract runs through to March 31, 2006 and affects health care, service and clerical employees in every District Health Authority in the province, with the sole exception of the Capital District.

No details of the deal can be released until CUPE hospital workers take part in ratification votes, which have been scheduled for Dec. 7-16.
