(New Glasgow) Workers at Valley View Villa nursing home have reached a tentative agreement with their employer, after threatening strike action.

CUPE National Representative Wayne Thomas says, The employer withdrew their concessions and we reached a compromise on pensions that will see the employees join the NSAHO Pension Plan after first raising the issue at the Bargaining Table in 1989.

This is a huge breakthrough for the employees of Valley View Villa, says Thomas.

No other details can be released until a ratification vote is held on the evening of July 31st.

The employees are members of CUPE Local 2330. Last week they voted 98% in favour of strike action, if a negotiated settlement could not be reached.
