Delegates to the 43rd annual CUPE Saskatchewan and 58th annual CUPE Alberta conventions last week got a taste of the campaign CUPE and Oxfam have launched to promote public services as the best way to fight poverty.

Hundreds of postcards were distributed on the convention floors, offering CUPE members a chance to support the call for better education, health care and water and sanitation worldwide.

A fair trade basket, CUPE global justice sweatshirt and beret were raffled in Saskatoon. CUPE-Oxfam public water bottles were sold. Delegates in Calgary rushed to sign the cards following an address by Oxfam Canada executive director Robert Fox (see story elsewhere in this section).
