CUPE Nova Scotia will hold its 50th anniversary convention in Wolfville from April 28 to May 1 at the Old Orchard Inn.

The convention will address a number of issues of concern to the 18,000 CUPE Nova Scotia members and their families in the province.

In addition, delegates will celebrate the union’s 50th anniversary. Media are welcome to attend and report on events.

Highlights include:

  • April 28,  7:15 p.m. – Day of Mourning ceremony for workers killed or injured on the job
  • April 28,  7:30 p.m. – Nova Scotia Federation of Labour President Rick Clarke
  • April 28,  8:00 p.m. – CUPE Nova Scotia President Danny Cavanagh
  • April 29, 10:45 a.m. – International Guest Speaker, Margarita Lopez from the Colombia Water Workers Union
  • April 29, 11:15 a.m. – CUPE National President Paul Moist
  • April 29,  2:20 p.m. – NS Premier Darrell Dexter
  • April 30,  9:30 a.m. – CUPE National Secretary Treasurer Charles Fleury (French interviews available)
