CUPE municipal workers and staff from around the province attended the annual convention of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, which was held in Gander from November 5th to 8th.

Close to 700 municipal politicians and senior administrators from across the province gathered to set policy for the coming year. CUPE NL municipal workers were in attendance to bring attention to the issues that are important to our municipal membership.

A display booth was set up at the trade show, which was provided by CUPE National. It was the very first booth that delegates saw when they entered the display area. The booth featured lots of giveaways including stainless steel water bottles, CUPE pens and mouse pads…..all intended to make our presence known. Some 300 bottles were distributed before the end of the first night.

CUPE NL’s delegates spoke in-depth with numerous municipal leaders from around the province about such things as regional solid waste services, waste-water management and recycling programs.
