Alberta Federation of Labour President is coming to your community Learn how you can help stop oil companies from “shipping Alberta jobs down the pipeline”
In an effort to communicate more directly with labour leaders and activists across the province, the AFL has decided to organize several “Presidents’ Roundtable” tours each year. As part of each roundtable tour, AFL President Gil McGowan will visit at least seven communities across the province.
Each visit will be divided into two parts: a private breakfast or lunch meeting between McGowan and local union presidents, activists and representatives; followed by a public speaking event highlighting one or more of the Federation’s latest campaigns. The public speaking events will be open to the general public and members of the local media.
The first Presidents’ Roundtable tour will take place in March. McGowan invites all local leaders, activists and representatives to meet him for a private briefing session followed by a public presentation on the AFL’s current campaign to get a better deal for working people out of the oil sands.
The AFL’s “Don’t Send Alberta Jobs down the Pipeline” campaign calls on the government to address union concerns in three areas: fair royalties; the piping of unrefined bitumen out of the province; and the increasing use of temporary foreign workers.

- Tuesday, March 6 Fort McMurray
- Wednesday, March 7 Hinton
- Thursday, March 8 Lloydminster
- Friday, March 9 Edmonton
- Tuesday, March 13 Red Deer
- Wednesday, March 14 Medicine Hat
- Thursday, March 15 Calgary
