FREDERICTON:  CUPE NB will support financially the 6 cafeteria workers of the Hugh John Flemming Forestry Centre (HJFFC) until the end of this strike.

This financial contribution will allow those 6 workers to stay on the picket line as long as it takes to negotiate a fair contract”, explained Daniel Légère, President of CUPE NB.

The six cafeteria workers have been on strike since February 4, after talks between CUPE Local 3372 and ARAMARK broke off.

These are low-paid workers who earned less than $10 an hour.  We will not let ARAMARK starve our members.  We urge ARAMARK to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair contract”, said Légère.

Members of CUPE 3372 prepare and serve food for the students at the Maritime College of Forestry Technology and for the provincial and federal government employees.
