Sisters and Brothers:

It is with great sadness that we advise that Sister Nancy Riche passed away on the weekend after a short illness.

Sister Nancy was a NUPGE leader and a long-serving Executive Vice-President and Secretary Treasurer of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).

Many of you will remember Nancy as our Chief Election Officer at each national convention since 2003. She brought humour and warmth to our union and she had been slated to be in Vancouver at our upcoming convention. We will miss her greatly.

Sister Riche was a role model for all trade unionists, particularly Sisters. She was a staunch New Democrat and at the time of her passing was working for our Party in the upcoming Newfoundland & Labrador election.

We will pause to remember Nancy at our upcoming convention, and the days ahead will pass along information on how we can send a message of solidarity and condolence to Sister Riche’s family.

In solidarity,

Paul Moist
National President

Claude Généreux

National Secretary-Treasurer
