CUPE 5513, representing nearly 250 workers at Brightwater Senior Living of Capital Crossing in Regina, signed their first collective agreement this week.
Brightwater Senior Living of Capital Crossing is a retirement community offering housing with health care services. Staff members include charge nurses, medication assistants, housekeepers, receptionists, engagement specialists, kitchen staff, and resident assistants.
“We are proud to have negotiated a first collective agreement that fairly compensates our members for the work they perform and addresses other key workplace concerns,” said Roman Yumiaco, president of CUPE 5513. “We care for Saskatchewan seniors with pride and look forward to continuing this important work.”
“CUPE proudly represents more than 14,000 hardworking health care workers across Saskatchewan,” said Kent Peterson, president of CUPE Saskatchewan. “This collective agreement for our new members is a big step towards achieving fairness in their workplace.”
