Brandon CUPE Local 69 members who work for the City of Brandon have voted overwhelmingly to accept a new contract which gives the employees a 7.25% raise over three years.

Our members are satisfied with the new agreement we reached with the City, said Local 69 President Garry Andrew. The final stages of negotiations went well thanks to the willingness on both sides to settle our outstanding differences.

The new agreement covering 325 City of Brandon employees goes into effect retroactive to January 1, 2000. The CUPE members will receive increases of 2%, 2%, 1% and 2.25% for a total of 7.25% during the three-year contract. In addition, there are wage adjustments for trades employees.

The Canadian Union of Public Employees is Canadas largest union representing more than 485,000 women and men across the country. In Manitoba, CUPE represents 23,000 members in health care, education, municipalities, social services, utilities, libraries and emergency services.
