WINDSOR, Ont. - On Saturday, November 8th, members from local 3677 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) ratified the tentative settlement that was reached earlier with the C.A.W. Community Child Care and Developmental Services Inc.

Ninety-four per cent (94%) of the members voted in favour of the tentative settlement.

Jane Favot, president of CUPE 3677, was glad with the outcome of the vote. “We can be proud at what we achieved,” said Favot. “We were able to get the concessions off the table and make gains on the issues that were important to our members, such as payroll deductions for professional fees, improvements in Holiday Pay language and pay equity.”

CUPE 3677 represents 62 early childhood educators and support staff at the C.A.W. Child Care Center. A special aspect of this working environment is that the employer is also a union, in this case the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW).
