OTTAWA, ON – Negotiators for Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1338 have reached a tentative agreement with their employer, Waste Management, Inc.

Both sides reached the agreement late last night following a marathon, 36-hour bargaining session.

Local 1338 represents 65 waste haulers and landfill employees who provide pickup and disposal of commercial, industrial and multi-unit residential solid waste for Waste Management. The City of Ottawa contracts these services out to Waste Management.

Details of the proposed settlement will not be released until members of Local 1338 have an opportunity to review the contents and vote on whether to accept or reject the proposed agreement tomorrow afternoon. The union will therefore have no further comment until then.
