TIMMINS Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario secretary-treasurer Brian OKeefe will be available to speak to media prior to the Timmins area CUPE leadership tomorrow (Tuesday) evening at the Travelodge Timmins, 1136 Riverside Drive. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.

OKeefe will talk to members about the unions strategy to fight concessions at the bargaining table and privatization of public services. In the hospital sector especially, the provincial government has threatened to privatize jobs in order to cut costs. For workers, that means major cuts to wages and benefits as well as the potential loss of both job security and union protection.
